Wild Horses at Mesa Verde

In case you couldn't tell from the number of posts on the subject, we enjoyed our visit to Mesa Verde. While we were getting ready to go get dinner, after a long day of exploring Anasazi ruins, Julia jumped out of the car and snapped some pictures of these wild horses who's ancestors had escaped a nearby town.

  1. Its hard to imagine these are wild horses since they are very well groomed and let you get that close. Harder to imagine someone letting their horses run loose. Let the horse pictures continue.

  2. The rangers assured us that they were wild horses which had escaped from Coretez many years back. They also said that they bite and kick so we should stay away. Of course Julia didn't listen.

  3. I went to Mesa Verde in August and saw the same horses. I'm a horse lover, so I had to get a better look and they didn't seem to mind me when I took pictures. They actually let me come pretty close. I might post a few of the pictures on the net. And those ancient ruins are really cool. Me, my dad and my sister explored a lot of them, and I actually found some old broken pottery, but we left it there.

  5. We just saw these horses today! That gray mare looked mighty thick through the middle, like she may be carrying another baby, but I'd be surprised i she was that big so soon after the little baby we saw walking around with her.
